Hi
I am fully aware that this question is going to make me look quite stupid, but in my defence, when it comes to anything vaguely technical, that pretty much sums me up!
Anyway, here goes....we have a tv that has built in Freeview but we can't get a signal......we only have Virgin Media cable tv elsewhere in the house, so am I right in assuming the reason for this is that we need an actual physical tv aerial on the roof? Does it have to be on the roof if so?
Thank you all!

Yes you will need an ariel, and it will most likely need to be on the roof, depending how close you are to a transmitter0

If you don't have one on the roof, (or like mine, yours was snapped when you bought the house!) then try a decent quality one in the loft.
I bought a philex 48 elelment job and it works beautifully, despite the fact pretty much everyone else down the street seems to have overly long roof mounted aerials!Unless specifically stated all posts by me are my own considered opinion.
