Help with last minute holiday to either Channel Islands or the Hebrides

Looking to take a last minute(ish) break to either the Hebrides or one of the Channel Islands in early September. Want to go to both, with no real preference on which one it is this year.
However i'm after some help with the organisation...
- If it's the Hebrides we want to do a driving tour taking 7-10 days and visiting the different islands. The cost of which will be approx £200 for the car, 2 adults and 2 dogs. However where can we stay along the way with our dogs? We can find corrages for a week or so, but nowhere that seems to allow 1/2 nights before moving on? Any tips on how long to spend on each island would also be good
- If it's the Channel Islands, then we're not bothered if it's Jersey or Guernsey. However we're trying to find somewhere inexpensive to stay with our dogs for a week in September. We'll go by ferry so again we can take the car. ideally we'd like a cottage or static caravan
Many thanks in advance
