Problems with Childrens Mutual

Hi,

I opened a CTF with The Children's Mutual in November, also taking advantage of their offer of £20 of Mothercare vouchers which should arrive 'within 28 days'.

2 months later and they've still not arrived, despite my having phoned TCM to chase.

Also, TCM are very slow to respond to email queries (if they respond at all, that is).

Has anybody else had this sort of problem with TCM? I just worry that if they can't organise a response to a very simple email request, nor stick to their commitment to award vouchers, then it doesn't inspire confidence that they can invest money wisely.

Has anybody got any advice about alternative CTF providers? Preferably ones that have a level of customer service?

Thanks

Jim

Did you purchase it through Childrens Mutual or Mothercare (or another). TCM white label to loads of companies and it may be that you should be going through another party. Most bank and building society as well as shops use TCM for CTF but the admin in the offer is dealt with by the retailer/bank/bsoc.

Also, the funds are not invested with TCM. They are unit linked and invested by the fund houses concerned.

We responded to a mailshot that said (paraphrasing). "Invest with us and we'll give you £20 of Mothercare vouchers"

I just find it odd that they offer an email address as a means of communication, but don't subsequently respond to said communications. It's very unprofessional, and one can't help wondering how widespread that lack of professionalism reaches.

Hi - I signed up to this offer about nine months ago and got the vouchers in the end - I had to chase a bit. Good luck and keep pestering.

Hello everyone. I've been using MSE site for a long time now but this is my first post... anyway...

I opened a CTF with The Children's Mutual (on the advice of this site, of course) a while ago. I got a marketing communication from them the other day saying words to the same effect as those above - set up a DD by 31/8/2008 and get £20 Mothercare vouchers.

So I was wondering, if I set up the DD, let the first payment go out and then cancel it, would I stand any chance of getting my vouchers? I can't see any minimum term described on this letter from TCM...

    your thoughts are appreciated.
