Mortgage Company want Contractor to check Roof

My Mortgage company have completed the survey of the property I am looking at buying. Now they are saying they want me to arrange a contractor to assess the roof.
They're not giving much else up and I'm having trouble raising them on the telephone.
Is this common? Who do I get in? Is it expensive to just "assess" it and write a report for the mortgage people?
I appreciate any advice as I'm at a loss to be honest.

Have they specified what sort of contractor? A surveyor again? You could ask the surveyor who has been out who he would recommend maybe0

What did your survey say about the roof?
If they are asking you to organise someone to assess the roof they will have to be more specific so you know what to do. What kind of contractor? What aspect of the roof? Why? What do they want to know?
Exactly what have you beentold? Was it in writing? Quote?0
