What would you do ??!!

Looking for advice .
sold item on ebay and it went missing.I had refunded and put in claim to Royal Mail.
Last week item was returned to me stating that it was not collected and have I now received a cheque for compensation for the item from RM.

Should I put cheque into bank or send it back to RM

bank it, it may not have been collected if the postie didn't leave a card to say they tried to post it. I have had several waiting at the sorting office I wasn't aware of as the postie left no card.
Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.

Send the cheque back. You have the goods, they buyer has their money back, and keeping the RM refund would be dishonest.

Did you actually sign for it when it was delivered.

How much are we talking about here.

What do you think you should do?
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

what would you do if you refunded the buyer and then they told you a month or that two later the item had arrived?

Give them a ring, they maybe would likely say

'Dont bother sending it back' it really wouldnt surprise me.

Then you know for sure and your conscience is clear.

well I feel better now that I've phoned RM and explained what's happened.
Was thanked profusely for my honesty and was told that I can return the cheque to the RM freepost address so I'll pop it in the post in the morning.
Kept thinking that keeping it would be bad Karma.
    thanks
