Problem with holiday booking

Unsure whether I am posting in the correct forum, but just wondering if someone can give me some pointers.
We booked a holiday last year abroad with a well known travel company. We are due to go in 2 weeks but so far have not received tickets. I rang to chase and was then referred to head office who called me back. They said the complex we booked is over-booked so when we arrive at our destination airport we will be 'allocated on arrival'.
I am really not happy about this to put it mildly. We could end up anywhere.
Where do I stand with this? Not ideal, but I would much rather change over our holiday to somewhere else, but company claim they would have to charge us for this !
We dont want to end up in any old place as one of our children has a disability and I researched the holiday for several weeks before booking to make sure it was suitable.

If the location of the holiday is important for a specific reason then I would make damn sure that the holiday company knew of it.
Tell them that your contract is to privide the holiday, for the dates mentioned at the location specified.2014 Target;
To overpay CC by £1,000.
Overpayment to date : £310
2nd Purse Challenge:
£15.88 saved to date0 -
Thanks for the reply, I have said this until I am blue in the face, but there is nothing they can do. Ive put a complaint in but its unlikely to be resolved prior to the date we are going, so for now I am just trying to get some sort of deal done, have our holiday, and then take it further once we return back.0

Was your child's disability noted at the time of booking? You say it was a prime factor in your choice - did you make the holiday company aware of this?
(I think you have more leverage if you did do so, as elements of the Disability Discrimination Act may come into play).

Yes, the travel company are aware-its noted in our booking, plus i had emailed the hotel also.0

In that case it might be worth contacting CAB or Consumer Direct for proper advice.0

I would imagine that, seeing as they booked that specific location, it was important.
The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
Seeing as the holiday is, "not as described," you could try claiming a refund from you credit card issuer under section seventy-five of the consumer credit act.The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0
