The price of goose

At what price did M&S sell goose for last Christmas?
Can you get it cheaper anywhere?
I am thinking of doing goose this year for Christmas and was wondering what price I was looking at, and possibly the cheapest way to do it.

no idea what m&s were selling at but I do know that I could get a local one for a lot lessPeople seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

Do you live anywhere vaguely rural? Local farms often much cheaper and you know exactly where they're from.Resolution:

Lidl did frozen geese (from Hungary) for £21.99 last Xmas - I've had these for a couple of years and they're excellent.0

do you want free range/organic/local/fresh? All these things make a big difference to price.

The cheapest ones that I saw last year were frozen ones in Lidl

No idea about the price of goose I'm afraid
but just a little warning if you've never cooked it before - I remember when I was a kid we had goose for New Year's Day and my dad was in charge of cooking it. After a whole afternoon in the kitchen slaving over the stove and smelling it roasting, when it came time to eat he just couldn't face it, and had a plateful of trimmings with no meat! The rest of the family thoroughly enjoyed it, but now anytime goose is mentioned he grimaces at the mere thought! :rotfl:

we had goose from Aldi a couple of years ago and I believe it was around the £15.99 mark. It was gorgeous, and totally unlike what I expected (to taste like turkey), it didnt, it tasted more like a very mild lamb. and the fat was brill for roasting potatoes (and enough left over for many more weeks of roast spuds). If I remember rightly there were 8 adults and 6 kids and I had just enough leftovers to do a curry for me and OH!0

aldi one was about £20 and nice. Locally produced (E Yorks - not local to me) was £30"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

Hi Alison,
As your thread has dropped down the Old Style board I've moved it over to the Food Shopping and Groceries board to see if you can get more replies.
