Citibank and Identity Fraud

in Credit cards
In view of all the talk about Identity Fraud recently I rang Citibank (use the 0800 number -not the 0870 one) to find out if I could access my credit card account online so I could check it regularly.
But they said this wasnt available at present but would be in a couple of months time.
However when I mentioned Identity Fraud the woman in the call centre said she had never heard of it and wasnt aware of it . She had an Indian type accent and so the call centre must have been abroad somewhere. I didnt ask her what country she was in but I said Identity Fraud was the hot topic of the moment here.
This just goes to show one of the problems of firms using foreign call centres.

To my mind, it is only the online banks that offer you access to view your credit card transactions online - of the Citi, egg, Morgan Stanley, HSBC and Barclays that we have, only egg lets you view your transactions. It's always the grass that suffers, irrespective of whether the elephants are fighting or making love !!!0

Plus from experience NatWest, Sainsburys, Capital One, MBNA allow online access.

I've had troubles with Citibank and their call centres lately as well. It is extremely frustrating. Some people take these comments as racist, so please be careful. I would still be complaining if the people were english or french, it doesnt matter. We are customers, and cant get anyone to understand us, and we cant understand them, what is the point of helplines and customer services if neither provide what the name suggests?
