The price will be the same no matter where you buy it from as Apple set the price so I would suggest buying direct from Apple.
As for which is best, they're all the same spec, the only difference is the storage size and whether it has 3g or not.
So the only questions you need to ask are will you use it whilst out and about? If so, you might want to consider the 3g, but you'll need a micro-sim and contract with an operator like O2 which obviously has a charge associated to it.
The only other question is do you need 64gb? We have the 16gb and it does us just fine.0 -
Hi,
As stated above all the prices are set by apple so they're all the same.
If you have an Apple store near you I'd definitely get one there. They will talk you through which capacity is right for you and set it up in store so your all ready to go.
There isn't a "best" one it's just what suits you the most.
If you need internet on the go get a 3g but if your just going to be using it where you have access to WIFI get the WIFI only one. However if you get the WIFI only you could get a mifi dongle in the future from any of the main networks (acts as a mobile dongle giving on wifi signal)
As for capacity it depends how much your going to store on it. The 16gb will hold 3,500 songs or 20,000 photos or 20 hours of video. Then the next choice is if you want it in black or white! I've got it in white and love mine.
Whatever choice you go for they all work the same and I'm sure you'll love it!0 -
Not strictly true that the price will be the same no matter where you buy it from, but you won't be able to get it much cheaper than direct from Apple.
For example, The Apple iPad 2 Wifi 64Gb black is £559 at the Apple Store. But it's £554.98 at Laptops Direct and £557.80 at Viking.
But more significantly, you can pay a heck of a lot more as well! The same model is £659.99 at Expansys so I'd be wary of assuming every price will be the same as it's not the case.
I'd agree that an Apple store is the best place for you, especially if you're not sure about which model to get, they'll be able to give you advice and you can try it out etc.
I got the pricing info from here by the way: http://www.ipad-price.co.uk/ean/0885909465149/0 -
At Laptops Direct you have to pay £7.96 for the cheapest delivery which takes you up to £562.94 for the WIFI 64gb iPad 2 not sure about Viking as you need an account.
I would get it from the Apple store if I were you if it is near enough.
I highly doubt you'll get it cheaper anywhere else, if you see it in the flesh and it's cheaper buy it there and then but if it's on a not well known website I'd stay away.
If you can't get to an Apple store try Comet PC World or Currys or order online directly from Apple, delivery is free0 -
You will not get a significant discount anywhere as Apple tightly controls is pricing and to be honest, iPads are being sold as quickly as they can be made so no need to offer discounts to get people to buy. Your only real option for savings are cashback offers via ecommerce sites.
3G or not 3G depends on your needs and what other tech you have. Personally have an iPhone and so can use that as my wifi hotspot so no need to pay the extra £100 for the iPad with 3G and another £10 data subscription a month.0 -
I would definitely suggest that 64G is likely to be bigger then you need.
Also, consider that the iPad 3 has rumoured possible release dates as early as October, maybe its more likely to be early 2012; but once its released the iPad 2 prices will plummet, and you'll be able to get the 3 for about the same money as you're currently considering for the 2...Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.- Mark TwainArguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon: no matter how good you are at chess, its just going to knock over the pieces and strut around like its victorious.0 -
The ipad 3 won't be out this year. When the ipad 2 was released Apple specifically stated it was the year of the ipad 2. Apple wouldn't do that to it's customers they wouldn't release a new product 7 months after the iPad 2 was released0

Though they have done 2 launches in under 12 months before, the last MacBook Air was launched in July 2011 to replace the prior MacBook Air that was launched in only November 2010 so only 8 months a part. Even if the iPad 3 was launched in October the 2.5 months of sales to year end would still leave the year as having been that of the iPad 2 not the 3.
Anyhow, my guess is that it will be launched early next year if you believe all the rumours over issues producing the "retina" display for it.0 -
There's NHS discount available and you can get 4% Quidco cashback.. those are about the only ways i've found to cut the price down0
