Anyone know how to sell old shares??

First posting so sorry if this is a poor effort - Just been through my financial stuff and found share certificate for 2380 Burnden Leisure Shares I stupidly bought in 1997 (Bolton Wanderers shares at the time). I paid about £1000 but the last time I looked at their price several years ago I'd lost most of that. I've tried finding them on the stockexchange listing but can't find them anywhere. Anyone know what I can do to try to sell them or have I lost all of my money?????

The best thing you could do is contact the registrars, the name and address of the registrar should be on the share ceritificate or any dividend vouchers you may have received.

Though when I googled the shares I found this quote "Both Burnden Leisure (34), the parent company of Bolton Wanderers, and Blackburn Rovers Football and Athletic Club (48) are private companies controlled by secretive offshore shareholders. Until 2003 Burnden Leisure was listed on the Alternative Investment Market, but was taken off the list. A capital reorganisation in December 2003 saw the club's ownership transfer to the Edwin Davies Trust for £2.25m. That deal still angers small shareholders who believe they did not receive fair value for their shares - Bolton's justification for the reorganisation was an urgent need to repay debts to banks." from http://www.newsco.com/productsandservices/archive/nwbi/2005-06/growth.

It looks as though the company has been taken over and you should have received a payment for your shares. If you haven't received a payment again the best place to go is the registrar's.

If you find the shares are still listed take them to a NatWest branch, most of them have sharedealing services in branch.

    Good Luck.
