SAR request

hello i have sent a s77 request and send my cheque for £1, some companies have written back to say that the personal data is no longer held and they are not obliged to save the information.
Is it worth sending the SAR request and a £10 cheque, or is there no way i can get this info from the bank concerned?

Hi and welcome
Unfortunately this is the case if the account is settled, but a SAR they must comply by the Data Protection Act (DPA) and provide all data held on you account going back at least the last 6 years, some will hold data going back to even earlier years, and that is correct, the payment required for this request is that of £10 cheque or postal order, they have 40 calendar days.
Any problems with these, then you can contact the Information Commissioners Office (ICO).

However, just as long as you know you were sold and mis sold ppi you don't actually require the paperwork, the account number will help though.
