Car insurance renewed without policy docs

After we cancelled their unwanted insurance, we was told we would have to wait 6 -10 days for a refund, checked bank account today to find that they had debited us a further £450 instead of the repayment ! Another phone call at 8p a minute (why) and put through to 3 different people, all wanting to hear the same story. Eventually agreed to repay the £900 plus, but it again would take 6 -10 days ! As this is clearly their fault, we have asked them to treat it as urgent as possible, otherwise the account could become overdrawn and incur bank charges. Funny how payments are always taken asap, yet refunds have to take sooo long - must be some bank rule that prevent them from repaying immediatley !
