Wasn't ever going to post again due to bad experience but just had to say this.......why did the tax credits stop? According to entitledto.com you should be getting in the region of £17 per week. Chase them up to check they've got it right, I used to have no end of problems with them.

Sorry made a mistake its £56 per month( it was previously £65), this is for husband who has 2 years no claims(he had an accident so had to start his no claims from scratch) and myself as a named driver.Does anyone know if you can get cheaper car insurance by being a HGV driver? Husband has had no accidents while driving his lorry? I passed my test in mid November, was on the insurance 2 months beforehand so i could get some practice in with him, so it hasnt gone down. We stuck with the renewal because they would carry on taking the instalments whereas if we went to another company they would want a larger deposit.

I am doing the surveys (lightspeed, tns, acops, yougov, purepoints, valued opinions) as well. Ebay are doing a 10plisting day on Thursday so will list a few bits on there.

Flasks are great, you can put so much more tha tea & coffee in them. Soups, stews, lots of things.
My husband & I gave up smoking & we put on 4 stone each:eek: , we are sorting that out now:mad:

We are all on O2 PAYG, got it tweeked just right. 300 free texts per month, 300 free wap, 150 free mins for every £15 put on the previous month, 10% of top up back as call back every quarter. I have a bolt on HOME 100 & for £10 a month that gets me 100 minutes of calls (any time) within about a mile or so of my home. I get a "treat" of 25 mins of anytime call per month.
So all in all I put on £15 call time, that gets me £1.50 back in call time per quarter, 150 free mins for topping up, 25 free mins treat, 300 free text, 300 free wap & 100 extra minutes I buy, plus £5 of call time!!!!!

Everyone is entitiled to NHS dental treatment at NHS prices, its finding an NHS dentist that appears to be the problem. If you've had root canal (ouch, I have too) are you likely to need it again in the forseeable future.
Try confused.com & the moneysupermarket.com for car & other insurance quotes.

I'm really impressed wih your shopping bill. There are 3 of us & we spend over £100 every week, I'm planning on making some savings there myself. I'm iving up "taste the difference" going to start buying "good for you". Do our waistlines & purses good;) .

I've got him two flasks one a food one with a wide neck and the other for drinks, both stainless steel so if it gets dropped/bumped they won't break.

I often shop at the end of the day when stuff is getting reduced and cook from scratch alot of the time. My mum and me go halves on bulk buying of chicken, bought over 150 drumsticks and they were massive for £22.
We eat alot of pasta, pasta salad, with tuna and sweetcorn, pasta bake etc etc.
We also eat rice, mashed potato, chips, waffles etc. All of us like porridge so that helps keep us going til lunch time, and we go to my mums once a week for dinner in return for getting her shopping.

I am going to invest in a slow cooker to see if that helps cut down on the electric bills.

Hi there again, just looked to see how you were doing. Sorry to hear that you have ended up in the TC *ock up..........I have just had my letter to the same effect, and added another £2k to my debts..................thanx IR. However..............when you look at your SOA your OH is spending more on smoking than you spend on the whole family for food! I'm not havin a go, I'm a smoker meself, but I seriously suggest that he swaps to roll-ups. £150 pcm equates to just over 20-a day habit, I'm convinced that if he swapped to a hand rolling baccy, even with peripherals such as filters and papers, he could halve this cost! I made the switch years ago, and my evil habit costs me a fiver a week tops. Alternatively, one stop smoking hypnotherapy session is about £150.....if he's brave enough to try! TTFN. Debs.

Hi Debs, well so far I have been making him his lunch, i bought some part baked baguettes and bake them the night before, and i get up when he does and make them for him (cheese and pickle or tuna, sweetcorn and mayonnaise), I do two 500ml bottles of squash, a packet of biscuits from the cheapy biscuit barrel packs (five/6 varieties for about £1) an apple and a small container of peanuts.
He is filling his flask with hot water at work before he goes out on the road, and takes those plastic cups with coffee and hot chocolate in like you get from hot drinks dispensers, they are 10 for a £1. (bought from the poundshop)
On thursday i did some chicken drumsticks in the slowcooker and he had that with pasta.

So he's not going hungry, and he seems less grumpy than when he last tried to give up smoking. I think I am going to hold on to his bank card a bit longer.

Going to try and get the soda stream up and running and do some fizzy stuff for him.

Early days yet, but I'm trying to drum into his head that at least this way he doesn't have to go without, just an adaption to his habits. Now if only i can persuade him not to use half the loo paper in the toilet before he goes and the other half after, and three sheets of bounty to blow his nose!!

Also he hasn't had access to his flexiloan so its still intact, and he has said that if he gets any overtime at the weekends that he will pay a bit extra off it.
