Hi Lynz, have seen you around on the Freecycle circuit lol.
My mobile contracts are with 3, so not sure if i can downgrade before the year is up, I renewed mine with 6 months free but this month I have to start paying again.
Despite being appalling with his money, the OH will not take out a creditcard (too much temptation).
When we got our loan for our first car, they spelt his name wrong on the credit agreement,(Obrian) this was all paid on time and hubby got a loan from HSBC to pay off the car loan as it was a cheaper APR. This loan in turn was paid off in full with no defaults.
Then when we came to get our current car, the credit search came up with a high apr (37%), said that there was no record of two loans fully paid off. I was 5 months pregnant at the time and hubby didnt want to worry me, but upon further investigation, they spelt his name wrong on the application, (Obrien)which he did not query. Correct spelling is O'Brien as it is on his bank details. Does anyone think this has anything to do with adverse credit?? Or do you think its his abuse of the overdraft that has caused this??
I go to the hairdressers once a year (£22 for a cut and blow dry) and I go to a college to get it cut again 6 months later (£5 for a cut and dry) cannot always get a college appointment or babysitter to look after little one.And yes the lady in the avatar is me

/QUOTE]
Dont suppose youve got any bubble wrap do you!
Ok, lets think laterally here.
Your OH says the card is too much temptation- but is OK to re use his flexi loan with a high APR?
Could he join up here & have a good read of whats sensible and whats not. My OHs cahoot loan APR jumped from 7. something to 11 something within weeks.
He could try to change to a personal loan instead so that once its paid off he cant get at it agian.
Perosnally I think flexi loans are a bigger temptation than a chopped up CC. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
Give up smoking & your body will thank you along with your purse.
My husband starts early too, I make him a packed lunch & pop it in the fridge for him to collect in the morning.
I usually do him a few filled rolls (I buy the part-baked ones, so they are cooked fresh the night before). Fruit, a bottle of mineral water (a volvic bottle filled from our plumbed in filtered US style fridge), I also make him porridge (all milk) in the winter which he microwaves at work, in the summer he has cereal. I put in a small choky bar, or club biscuit or something like that & either a yogurt or a few mini baby bels or similar.
Make him his lunch, he will feel pampered & you will save money, WIN WIN.
Try PAYG mobiles when your contracts are up.
Do you really need dental insurance?
Is there any point in you having critical illness cover when you don't work?

She doesn't smoke - her husband does and doesn't show any signs of stopping anytime soon...
I definitely agree with getting your husband on here to have a looksee - have you shown him your SOA? Perhaps seeing it in black and white might get him thinking and then (hopefully!) doing.0 -
Just a warning about 3 network - they now charge £25 (since December) to downgrade your contract mid-contract.
What about trying to get hold of a slow cooker on Freecycle to cook with instead of using the expensive cooker? The slow cooker typically uses the power of a lightbulb so will work out cheaper than the cooker.
Another idea - what about fixing hubbies lunch then freezing so he can take a roll out of the freezer in the morning - it will be defrosted by lunchtime? Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!

It will be if you take it out the night before.:beer:0 -
If you have won your claim against Bank Charges by default then the bank MUST pay you them. I would drop them a line stating you will be issuing the bailiffs to recover goods unless they pay in full within 7 days. If not it will cost you £55 to issue a warrant of execution.0

Even though a non-smoker and a smoking hater, I have to say that smoking seems to be the habit of 99% of HGV drivers. Maybe it is being on the road long hours alone, but it will be hard for him.Member #8 of the SKI-ers Club
Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -

Hi thanks for the advice, but I was told that the bank can weedle its way out of paying by saying they never received the claim form and apply to have the judgement set aside. We have written a letter to HSBC enclosing the judgement asking them to credit the account within 7 days. This was posted first class recorded on saturday, marked the envelope "URGENT- COURT DOCUMENTS ENCLOSED", so hopefully it should get to tey intended receipient. And yes the lady in the avatar is me

I made him a cheese and pickle baguette, popped an apple in and a packet of jaffa cakes, and a can of zero coke. Will have to get the soda stream up and running today and make a batch of drinks. Trouble is when people are trying to stop smoking they compensate by overeating!! He's left his flask in the lorry, so no hot drinks for him
Try PAYG mobiles when your contracts are up.I think we may do this unless we can get a tariff for say half of what we are paying when it comes to renewal/upgrade and sell the new upgrades perhaps???
Do you really need dental insurance? We don't get dental treatment on the nhs, and hubby and i have had root canal treatment, which would have cost us £150+ each if we didnt have the insurance
Is there any point in you having critical illness cover when you don't work?
HTHWe took this out when i was working, the quote for husband alone was £7 odd pounds, so if my name was taken off to reduce the cost, when I do want a policy again I will be paying out more again.
