i managed to get one from argos I work in argos call centre and we have a program that lets us reserve products so me and a colleague reserved that last 2 which were available to reserve in any argos store in the country after they took the reserve option offline and luckily the argos was only an hour away wax really chuffed. Currently using it now just got used to it well worth the price imo

Well done ;-), If thats against your company policy id probably delete that post, you might get fired like the guy who called argos a 'shambles' on Facebook http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2028087/Argos-fires-father-uses-Facebook-company-shambles.html.

Do you know if they will get more on the 11th?

After ordering some the other night after argos's "website glitch". After emailing them to ask why they cancelled the order but didn't send out any email to us to explain why. They said that the product has been discontinued (which we know) and is no longer available, Asked them why they were still advertising it, and had "email me when back in stock" etc. They are apparantly having it removed when their IT department are back. Whether that happens or not, due to speculation that they are getting more into stock in september, We shall see.

  • Found a very good alternative to the HP Touchpad, if you are one of those people that must absolutely have a tablet, while undercutting the competition by quite some way...

Its the Packard Bell Liberty tablet, which is very well specced, boasting a 10inch screen, dual core processor, 16GB of storage, HDMI Output, front and rear facing cameras, etc... But most importantly in my opinon it is running Android Honeycomb 3.0, which is specifically designed for tablets and NOT running a phone operating system, like the majority of other cheaper tablets are running! Including the HTC Flyer and Samsung Galaxy Tab 7 inch.

The price is £299, which I know is still quite substantially more than the HP Touchpad was selling for, but undercuts other Android Honeycomb 3.0 tablets and a well known fruit named tablet by atleast £100!

Reading the professional reviews of this product seems very positive and Packard Bell is part of Acer, and seems to be based around one of their own tablets. Packard Bell products are usually priced at the lower end of the market (but int his case very well specced), so prices will probably drop further.

I just want to point out, Im not on any commission or try to advertise and the view above is purely mine! I just wanted to point out a good alternative in my view, being a bit of a geek.

Oh, no. If I'm completely honest I hadn't even contemplated buying one until they had been reduced!

I've had a look at the touchpad and having compared it to the iPad 1/2 I'm quietly disappointed it's not the iPad going as the touchpad seems much better!
  • a little off post, but can anyone recommend the best accessories for the touchpad? Also best apps for a teen? Many thanks in advance!

... and over 4 times the price of the Touchpad

£89/£115 is such an appealing price point, people wanting to buy them for their kids (me), grandparents, just to browse and email on. The amazon tablet may well be better and sounds like it may be priced around £199-£249 but that's just too much for me.

Still desperately hoping to pick one up from somewhere, £89 makes it the perfect christmas present for my daughter. £189 on ebay is too extravagent for me, daughter is only young so can wait a while to get her first computer but this is a brilliant opportunity to get one into her hands at an early age (8 years), just hope I get one.
