Wanting help/advice!!!
Recently I got a DVD player just a player, not recorder. Happy with it as I had a VHS for taping programmes, however soon after this decided to break! Now have nothing to tape programmes! Thought I'd manage without but it would be nice to watch things later (after I've done work!)
Thinking of a PVR but I'm getting so confused as have been looking on ebay and PVR/Sky+/Top up TV/Card slots/Card readers!??!?!
Looking on ebay as not sure how soon they'll go out of date, also I'm a student so budget is main thing. I do need a new ariel anyway as current TV signal is rubbish!
Any advice on PCR's????
Cheers guys!

if your budget is really tight perhaps you might be better buying another vhs video recorder, there very cheap now even new ones.
if you still insist on a pvr do a search on google there are dedicated website forums but, like all things its a new thing meaning things go wrong and pvrs at the moment can be very expensive the cheaper ones tend to have a variety of problems from locking up.

budget not very tight but don't want to go mad!0

Then get a Humax 9200T. New they are about £170 and are fantastic. Don't worry about it going out of date. In the year I have had mind the software has been upgraded 3 or 4 times already - each time with new features. See http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=119&page=1&sort=lastpost&order=&pp=30&daysprune=30 for more details.0

If budget is the main thing, go for the Humax 8000T instead of the 9200. You only get one tuner, so you can't watch another digital channel whilst recording another, but I bought one not long ago and am very pleased with it. You can supposedly upgrade the 80Gb harddrive if you want more, but I haven't tried it yet since I've never had more than 20 hours of recordings and it holds about 40.
Search Kelkoo for Humax 8000t and you can pick one up for under £80, which is cheaper than the finishing prices for them on E-Bay (when I bought mine, anyway)0 -
Ok but can you upgrade it to the latest firmware that the 9200 has? If so then go for it - if not don't bother.0

if you have a semi decent pc why not just get a tv tuner card and build your own, fast enough cpu and you can record stuff straight to mpeg4 and save a tonne of disk space0
