Ceanothus, not sure variety.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

I did wonder about that, but they seem to be almost covered in blue when they are flowering, this one just has a few flowers, leaves are bigger than I'd expect too, but as you say, its probably down to a certain variety, or growing conditions.
Thank you.0 -
If it's in flower now, that's why there are not many flowers - it has got the seasons confused and is throwing up a few flowers out of it's flowering time, which is late spring - May/June time.

It also flowers on wood grown the previous year, (that is, the new stems that are growing this year are the ones that will have flowers on next year) so only prune immediately after it has flowered next spring if you need to. If you cut it back any other time, you'll cut off the shoots that will have flowers on.Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened.0 -

Yep, its only flowered recently, but we did do some heavy mass pruning at Easter time, which may not have been the right time. (The the neighbours were complaining) Im guessing we cut too much off at the time, and its trying really hard to flower now!..poor thing!0 -

This is correct. My dad has one in his garden blooming at the mo. No idea of variety either
