Flying to Vancouver.... Help needed

Wanted to go around December first week.
I heard it's better to fly into the USA first and then a flight into Vancouver. Is this correct? I'm on a pretty tight budget hoping to get the cheapest flight possible. Thanks to ANY help
Also what is the longest I can stay out there. Will be staying with a family thanks

OH a big thing is I want to book as long as possible because I don't know when I will be back... Is it possible to book say a return date for 6 months from December and if I need to change my ticket to whenever I decide to come back uner 6 months not over? Would that cost a lot or is it better to book one way each side

  • I've searched everywhere and the lowest price I'm getting is around 700. If I have to pay it I will but would be great if anyone knew any better options or prices as it would be nicer to have more money to stay longer.

The only reason I'm landing in Houston is because I thought it would be cheaper.

Any advice would be great thanks

    Any London airport
But if I have to drive to one further out that's ok.

My partner flew out to Montreal this morning via the US. It was massively cheaper, and only marginally longer going via the US. She did have to buy a $15 visa waiver for the US though.

    Have you looked at http://www.canadianaffair.com/
The flight prices seem a bit lower than you have found (if suitable).

Have you bought your tickets already? If not reconsider flying via Continental which will be the airline flying to Houston. It will make your journey much much longer than necessary. Yes, flights to Canada are expensive at Christmas as there is still a considerable number of people flying to visit relatives, which is not the case to the US, who barely celebrate Christmas anyway. If you want cheaper fares consider Canadian Affair who offer charter flights direct to Vancouver from London Gatwick, a quick check shows a flight out on 15 December returning 3 months later for £518, a possible saving

She flew American Airlines to Chicago, but I'm not sure who she used for the connection.

The advice about Canadian Affairs in Post 7 is worth pursuing. For Vancouver in early December and back at beginning of May you can go under £500 return from Gatwick. I used them for Toronto recently(the airline is Air Transat) and they were fine except for the in flight meal which was uniformly terrible in both directions.

I havent been for 11 years, but am sure I flew direct - there is no way even for $100-200 saving I would not fly direct if the opportunity presented itself, changing planes in USA - nightmare
