Do storage heaters need professional installation?

Am about to get quotes for this but am wondering whether I could do it myself.

Also, could there be any issues with wiring which might make things more expensive..?

If you dont have night storage heaters at present then you will need them wiring independantly.

Night stores each have their own supply fed from their own consumer unit / fuse box, you will need an approved part p registered sparky to do this work for and get it signed off accordingly at the end, you may also want to notify your electric provider to have a dual tariff meter fitted to get the full benefit of economy 7 and the cheaper night ratings.

    Muckybutt is right.

You need a different meter. It used to be called a 'white' meter (as it was white) and it gives different tariffs for night (normally midnight until 7.00am) which is teh low cost energy for hetijnhg up storage heaters. (Its also cost effective to put your washing / tumble drying on at this time (if its not too noisy) as the leccy is much cheaper.
