Asda Charging me twice..In tears and overdrawn

I have spent most of the morning on the phone in tears to Asda as they have ringfenced £98 from my account and taken £79 for the cost of my online shopping
Having Googled this problem it seems I am not alone but they say 7 to 10 days to go back into my account!

I am now overdrawn without any authority and they will slap me a charge for this eventhough its Asda's fault! I cannot get any money out of the bank until it is refunded:mad:

The Indian customer call centre have call takers with English names (thats a laugh) and "tracey" who I spoke to was very unhelpful!

I need an address or Head Office to write to as I am not letting this one go and now that I am sp upset it has really ruined my day

Any Advice????

You should call the bank and insist this is a unauthorised transaction and ask them to reverse it.
You gave them authority for a fixed amount, they have taken more, that makes it unauthorised and ALL of the payment should be reversed leaving ASDA to invoice for the correct amount.
Call the bank and report an un-authorised transaction.

I don't think any of the charges were unauthorized. In the T&C it probably states that the final figure is an estimate and the actual amount isn't calculated until your shopping is picked at the store.

ASDA haven't taken the £96 they have just authorised that amount when you made the order, but will not actually complete the transaction.

If ASDA need to check your card before taking your order they should do like other stores and just authorize £1 to check your card details.

This is the e-mail address for the CEO of Asda

    andy.clarke@asda.co.uk

The advice from the site providing the e-mail addresses is:

The Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of companies will respond to you depending on the content and tone of your e-mail. So, here are some hints and tips which should help to get a satisfactory reply:
    • Be polite
    • Keep the information concise and to the point
    • Include customer reference numbers or invoice numbers, if applicable; Include a brief history of the issue, if applicable
    • Do not accept being passed back to "Customer Services"
    • Explain clearly what you want as a solution or outcome

So so sorry love.I do not buy online from Asda anymore as they did this to a friend of mine and caused her extreme upset.Literally left her with no money for gas or electric that week and four kids to entertain on a halfterm holiday.

Do hope this is sorted for you soon.

  • This happened to me at Christmas. I did a big online shop and they ring fenced the money for it (over £150) and then they didn't deliver my order because of the bad weather so rang me up and cancelled - on Christmas EVE!!!

I went to Tescos and tried to buy shopping there and I couldn't use my card because the ring fence from ASda was on there and I only had a little bit of available funds. I was going mental and rang Asda head office and they basically couldn't give a sh*t. I ended up having to borrow money - it was a nightmare and I have never shopped online from Asda again.

I don't think that there is anything that you can do to reverse the transaction as I tried and it all takes several days to do, but you can get in touch with Asda head office and say that they have a duty to refund any charges incurred as a result of their mess. Good luck - it's a nightmare I know.
