Options
Hi,

I want to make a fruit salad to take to work. If i cut up banana, apples and clementines now, put them in a container and refridgerate, will it all be ok for tomorrow?

Thanks

the banana and apple will go brown, so it depends whether that will bother you. I'm pretty sure it's just the acid reacting with the air (oxidising) but it doesn't affect the taste or nutrition. putting some lemon or orange juice in with the fruit might help.

Chop the apple and banana into a bowl and squeeze a little lemon juice over and stir through. This will prevent them browning. IMO I think fruit salad tastes better made the day before and if there is any left by the second day the juice seems to be slightly thicker. I use fresh orange juice for the liquid.

I love my fruit salad in orange juice and this stops the fruit from going brown. It gives food and a gorgeous drink all in one. I can prepare it two days in advance doing this and it tastes just fine.

As above I toss my apple in orange juice an dit never goes brown, the banana, however, I always add just before serving. HTH

Same as everyone else - Fruit Salad will keep for a couple of days in the fridge with orange juice. Add a sliced banana at the last minute if you want.

Does the lemon juice/orange juice work when making apple juice in the juicer ? My kids keep moaning that apple juice is always brown!

Second day fruit salad is like second day soup - much tastier.
I always make fruit salad 24 hours before it's needed and have never had the banana or apple go brown. Maybe it's the orange juice that stops it.

Have you ever tried ginger beer? That is particularly good as well.
