Fancy kitchen at budget cost - advice, anyone?

I have an Ikea kitchen (installed last year) and the units all have backs on them so nothing can fall through. There is no void at the back, the units are flat against the wall, so you do need fairly straight walls.
The only unit I have that didn't have a back on it was the cupboard under the sink and our fitter put a half panel on the back of it to stop things falling out the back.
They seem to be quite easy to fit together. There are marks or holes for the hinges etc. I managed to damage one of the doors on a wall unit but was able to buy a new door and replace it (well, my Dad did!) quite easily.0 -
We didn't have a good experience with Bettaliving - They didn't bother showing up to the initial home visit. Their kitchens looked nice but I would imagine pricey and like others have said pushy for your business. I wouldn't give an indication of budget as to me that just allows them to make even more profit on what already is a huge mark up! I was asked the same question but said I would prefer not to say.
We got supply only quotes from Howdens and Magnet and to be honest there wasn't much difference in price. We also went to another local place who quoted for a Second Nature kitchen (Fenton Wenge). If you like Second Nature kitchens have a look at this place http://www.candckitchens.net/ who are in Enfield, Middx. Their supply and delivery quote for exactly the same kitchen was £4,500 cheaper!!
In the end we ordered a Mereway/Wentworth kitchen from a local supplier who are providing the whole package including site survey visits, units, worktop, Siemens appliances (trade price) and fitting and will manage the project from start to finish. These are the same kitchens that John Lewis sell but cheaper. Another place that sells these kitchens is http://www.arena-kitchens.co.uk/ (Alaris) I was very impressed with their service and pricing but they are in Aberdeen and we live in the South East. We decided in the end to go with the local place, for peace of mind should anything go wrong, even though Alaris' quote was £2,500 cheaper for supply of the units, so well worth a look!!!0 -
Thanks for reply re ikea kitchen - it is appreciated. Did you get any of the super tall units - we are thinking of getting 5 - I figure the top shelf can be for things we dont use very often - such as seasonal stuff - christmas baking tins etc0

I've never seen an Ikea kitchen, but search threads here and you will get positive comments. Three colleagues have an Ikea kitchen and all say they are good or very good. Cheap too. Obviously not as good as a Magnet or whatever, but prices do not compare.
Actually I'd disagree with that, IKEA are easily as good, if not better than magnet...0 -

Uk design has copied the same posts praising his/her company on the Warnings and Vent thread about John Lewis kitchens. It just looks so obviously like spam to me. New poster, 5 posts, all heavily promoting this company. Please click spam button.0
