Killing a tree

I removed a tree yesterday, cut it at the bottom, leaving a stump about 6 inches high. It wasn't a very big tree, the stump is the diameter of a Coke bottle. I drilled some holes in the stump, then poured some turps into the holes. Do you think this will kill it forever?
Thanks

Not sure if turps will kill it or not - you can get stump killer powder from the likes of B&Q but it will take months for the stump to rot. I recently hired a stump grinder from a garden hire place and it made mince meat of three large (2 foot diameter 6 inch above ground) stumps. Very heavy though and you would need a trailer to transport it.

That would certainly get rid of your stump in a matter of a few minutes work, but maybe not cost effective if you have 1 stump to do. You could see if any neighbours need theirs done at the same time?
    Regards, Robin.

If it's that small, the easiest - and by far the cheapest - way would be just to dig it up.
