I just put a Pioneer 111d dvd/writer in my mum's Dell dimension 1100.Set it to master and the existing dvd rom as slave.Tried a film in it and it refused to play (she uses "powerdvd") it regognises the title but says it is the wrong region and I need to change the drives region coding.Damn well isn't, its an R2 and it works in the rom drive.Tried a couple of others and the same thing happens.
Windows media player wont play them.
I then installed "Anydvd" from slysoft but it still says the same thing.
It will open up data dvds but then if you try to open a program on it.it runs slow and then says program not responding.Rom drive works perfectly.
any ideas please??

To get a region free dvd-rom set both the dvd-rom drive AND the dvd video player to region free0

My DVD player did not have a region selected when I initially installed it, so would only play region 0 DVD videos.
To select a region, you'll need to right-click the drive in Windows Explorer, choose properties and... I think the relevant option will be somewhere there.
Alternatively, download DVD43 to enable playing DVDs from any region. (See http://www.dvd43.com/).0 -
