They could only clamp you if signs quite clearly state that clamping is in force for not paying for the days parking and you dont pay again.
Otherwise, if they do cut off the clamp, you would be lawful in doing so.

On a more common sense route, park somewhere else

I go back to the same car park every week, got a fake PCN there 3 years ago. I still overstay sometimes as well, couldn't give a stuff as I have zero respect for PPCs and am a genuine customer of the retailer 90% of the time. Unfortunately the PPC have never given me another PCN but that's the most they could do (and only if you contravene their daft rules again, not as a punishment for ignoring them last time!). I am sure the PPC employee - who changes every month in my area as it's not a proper job - has no idea which cars have had a PCN before and even if he did, how would he know the car still had the same owner/driver as last time? And what could he do? You are worrying about nothing, honestly.

Companies cannot legally clamp over an unpaid alleged 'debt' and can only clamp if they have clamping signage up (most do not). In supermarket car parks it's always just PCN rubbish notices and companies who do not clamp, do not have an SIA licence nor the 'clamping signage' (e.g. Euro Car Parks, Britannia, Parking Eye AND MOST OTHERS are not clampers).

HTH, now go back there and laugh at the sad employee in the high-vis jacket, laugh even louder if they stick another fake PCn on your windscreen. I really would go and thank the guy in my local car park if he ever graced my car with more rubbish! :rotfl:
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
