Samsung Netbook ram upgrade advice.

I have the Samsung nc10plus netbook, currently I have a pc2 5400 ram, Which of the following two would give the best all round performance as a replacement :-
DDR3 PC3-8500 • CL=7 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR3-1066 • 1.5V • 256Meg x 64 • • Part #: CT1941390
Or
DDR3 PC3-10600 • CL=9 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR3-1333 • 1.5V • 256Meg x 64 • • Part #: CT1941389
Thanks for looking. Alan.

    Didn't think they'd be compatible between PC2 and PC3?

I stand corrected then, though it does say on the left that your current spec is PC3. Go for the lower of the two (the DDR3-1333), as it's technically superior. BUT, don't expect a huge performance boost, there's only so much a netbook can do.

What is this? You wrote that you have an NC10 Plus, but link to a completely different machine.

DDR2 and DDR3 are not the same. DDR3 will not fit into your slot. You need DDR2/PC2.

In your first post you say you have a Samsung nc10plus netbook with DDR2 memory and you've linked to a page showing the memory used by a Samsung NC110-A01 which uses DDR3 memory.

Thanks guys was getting totally confused, cant find my exact model (np-nc10-jp1uk) in the list, this is the nearest I found http://www.crucial.com/uk/store/mpartspecs.aspx?mtbpoid=A78EE268A5CA7304, currently I have a 2gb pc2, 5400, I'm just wondering if the pc2 , 6400 would make a difference, the 5400 came originally from my wife's original NC10, now wanting to upgrade that to 2gb, Hope this makes some sense.

It's a NP-NC10-JP01UK and as stated it takes DDR2 SDRAM - 800 MHz - PC2-6400. If it runs with the lower clocked RAM and you are happy not to pay for the higher clocked RAM.

Thanks again Guys, The idea is to return the 5400 to the wife's machine and fit the new 6400 into mine,

    Errr....hold the phone.

That link shows an NC110. Yours is a NC10+ which is NOT THE SAME THING. You say yours is running DDR2 which is what I also think it is running. You cannot put DDR3 in a DDR2 SODIMM slot because they don't physically fit, let alone work.

Get a screwdriver and take off the bottom cover and actually check what the sticker on the DIMM says.

But if you are expecting that changing from PC2-5300 to PC2-6400 will make a noticable difference on a netbook, I am sorry to say it won't. Going from 1GB to 2GB will as will changing from mechanical hard drive to SSD. But upping the RAM speed slightly won't.
