School hols 2012, book now or wait?

Not sure yet if Spring bank or main hols yet.

Looking at 7-10 nights all inclusive in med,

2 children 10 and 12, know th 12 year old will be classed as an adult.

If we book early do you think we may get a free child place?

New to all this, but want a change from uk caravan hols!

  • There are still some free child places around so I would certainly start looking now as they tend to go quickly. Think most child places on all inclusive are up to and including age 12. My daughter is 13 next year so have to pay adult price for her.
We've been to the San Miguel Hotel in Puerto San Miguel Ibiza for past 4 yrs as my kids love it there. Plenty going on for them.We book with Thomson and it's usually reasonably priced.

    Thanks for that.

Had a quick look and we could get a free child place if we book now.

Just bait worried about the 12 year old and having enough to do.

Never taken them on a euro beach holiday before, normally stop in lodges or caravans in uk and visit family abroad rest of time.

Coming out at £2200 ish for a week in Aug AI, but guess you get what you pay for?

i booked in october last year to travel august this year, i had been watching the prices for a while before that, the prices had risen and the free child places were becoming limited,(the week i intended to book was no longer available with free child place) by the time i booked,
  • We have recently booked for late July 2012, 2wks AI, and we got a free child place but were told by the Travel Agent that they are limited. We booked early so know exactly how much we need to save up and by when.

  • I would book early to nab a free child place. Then you've got ages to pay it off too :)
Cost wise, it's worth having a look for breaks right at the end of the summer holidays because they can be a little bit cheaper. The holiday we are looking at is 25th August - 1st September and we're thinking of flying at night to save a bit of cash :D
Thanks to everyone who posts comps, I love winning prizes big and small

  • My kids have never been bored in Puerto San Miguel. They have been going since they were 9 and 15. They have many friends that they've made over the years as families tend to go back year after year. It's a very friendly place and I am sure your kids will soon make friends. Hotel animation team work really hard and there's lots going on for kids during the day e.g killer pool, beach football, beanbag throwing, giant jenga etc. Canoes, banana boat rides, pedalos available on the beach. Crazy golf in a bar outside the complex. My daughter used to love the kids clubs but she's too old now. I could do with a change next year but she is mortified. i would love to try Menorca. Have tried showing her other places on line but she's having none of it! If you want any more info let me know.

Do the other things cost extra? Banana boat etc? Sure the crazy golf would?

My eldest is always wanting drinks, snacks and to do stuff that costs, that's why I wanted AI, younger one happy with a bucket and spade-sure it will not last much longer!

Do not want to be having to think about money and saying no all the time.
  • Yes unfortunately the Banana Boats and Pedaloes have to be paid for. Canoes are free. Haven't been to the crazy golf but assume you have to pay. My daughter went once a few years back with another family and said it made a nice change. This year my daughter went on Pedaloes twice and Banana Boat twice but spent most of the time in the pool and joined in the odd activity if the timing suited her. She did tend to come back and fore asking for tho odd euro to play pool or table tennis though.
