oohhh blast I've been so busy 10p listing on ebay that I forgot all about this programme.
How did they do?....the lovely talented couple from cornwall?...please someone tell me how they managed.
Anyone know if it is repeated this week?
Thanks all0 -
Yes they did, mainly by selling stoves, but also by Lucy teaching extra yoga (she went to Spain for a week) and renting out their house one sumer whilst they lived in their shed in their garden.0

They did it!!! Making a grand profit on each of the hotpods they sold! So they are the 1st success story of the programme. And to cap it all, they still looked madly in love, ahhhhhhhh!
Not sure if its repeated at all.Mortgage free 04/03/2025. Thanks to this site and lots of overpayments bit by bit.
Next stop: house repairs, holiday fund, replace our very old cars, more financial security/early retirement savings.🤞0 -
I thought they would have paid it off twice over, but problems kept cropping up with parts for the hotpods that slowed production.
If he could have made 200 in the year then he would be minted now. I thought he should have got an apprentice in to help him....
But credit to them, they did it just....

This wasn't shown on BBC2 Scotland . We had a Gaelic programme :rolleyes:0

The issue of tax was mentioned right at the end - I seriously hope Rene didn't leave them to handle their self-assessment forms on their own, for a year when their joint income jumped from under 20k to over 150k. What a nightmare!:T:j :TMFiT-T2 No.120|Challenge started 12.12.09|MFD 12.12.12 :j:T:j0

Thought the programme was great and thought the family was lovely.
However, if that guy is turning over £100k a year surely he has to register for VAT as well as pay tax on that huge sum?
I find it a little bizarre that at the end they don't know if they've done it, but given the profits and extra income they must either have a huge bank balance, or have been making regular overpayments on their mortgage, and have regular statements to see how they were doing.
I guess the thing is, alot of the sales were made, but not yet delivered, so those numbers were counted - which is possibly a minor cheat - but lets not take it away from them, they did fantastically.
Would just have liked a bit more info on the financial side of things, but will definitely be tuning in to see how everyone else did.

For those of us North of the Border in Scotland, the series is on Monday evenings at 7pm on BBC2. Its called 'Did they POTMITY?'. Not sure if the first one has been on already as only found the listing this morning [clashes with the SPL football match as well
.

Just bumping this to remind people in Scotland when the series is on up here [see post above]. Also anyone in other regions who missed it and has Sky should be able to look for BBC2 Scotland channel to watch it as well.0

I see the Hotpod family have limited their output to 350 units... However, the price has gone up from £1600ish to £2600ish. By my calculations they'll have made a cool £0.5m by the time they deliver they're last one. Good on them!0
