Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Monday 22nd August. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all
Bright & sunny here so I have washing on the line early as it isn't meant to last.
Hubby's been dropped at the station with his packup, breakfast eaten, fish fed, DW on.
I shall spend some time in my craft/sewing/junk room today & do some crochet as well.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

    Good Morning x
I had a busy day yesterday and also had a grumpy g*t (aka Kids Dad) to contend with. He was tired but he is so snappy with it:mad:

Anyway we got round to making beetroot chutney with my homegrown beetroot and apples that had been given to us. It was lovely as I was cooking it so can't wait until it has matured. We also made some sponge cakes but I am convinced my oven is not heating up properly as some cooked properly and some did not. Anyway something else to sort out now:eek::eek::eek: I have been saying it for weeks but Kids Dad ignores me for a bit - he always does that with my car/ washing machine. Then he finally takes it on board and admits Im not imagining things:mad:

Bitsy - hope you are feeling brighter. The end of the summer holidays is nigh and remember how tired i used to feel when the kids were young. Hugs to you x

Plan for today - enlist the kids to help with cleaning and then we will go to Ikea this afternoon (wish me luck !) x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

    Mornng all,

Welcome kimsmum, good luck with the hospital xx

Beautiful day here, but meant to be to me turning nasty later on, will do a quick wash and shove it on the line this morning.

Minimal OS going on this week, we are starting the bathroom revamp today :T. I am going to be labourer and dd is chief cook and bottle washer :D

Dinner tonight is an easy cheesy bean pie with sausages, which dd will make, also we will have no shower facilities for a couple of days, so a wash in the utility room sink will have to do :rotfl:need to find a hat to cover my hair, as I cant stand having dirty hair.

Ok better get on, have good days all xx

Morning everyone - it's bright and sunny here. The rubbish truck is on its rounds and garden tiger is wrinkling her nose in disgust at the noise.:rotfl:
DH and EH have yet to emerge downstairs from their respective rooms, so I'm making the most of the quiet. EH is going to cook for us tonight - I think risotto is on the menu. He is pestering estate agents today, so with luck he will be able to sort out some property viewings. He is itching to find a new place so that his GF can join him. It's really been a bit of a weekend.
DW is on, WM will be pressed into service shortly.
Hugs and thoughts to everyone who needs them. I hope you all have a good day.

    Morning everyone,

    Welcome kimsmum

    Bitsy hugs

Have spent the weekend walking on Offa's Dyke on the Welsh-English border and my legs are killing me. The scenery and the weather were beautiful but even the dog (my friend's greyhound) was exhausted after 2 days.

I am letting the children have a lie in this morning and then we have a mid morning appointment at the dentist.

The WM is on (full of smelly walking socks!) and tea tonight is sausages with HM potatoes and beans from my parent's allotment.

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)

    kimsmum welcome to the daily

redruby im always the labourer when DH does anything and the chief cook and the cleaner uperer ...... enjoy ;)

thanks for all your good wishes for DH its such a relief to know things are ok at the moment

weve had a lovely few days away , stayed in a tr@velodge , the girls loved c@dbury world and came away with 12 free bars of choccy between us :D ( not to mention the stuff they bought in the c@dbury shop :o)

we ended up spending a huge amount on food though , much more than we had accounted for , we had breakfast one day at a t0by c@rvery- which is a cooked breakfast and we had 2 for 1 vouchers so should have cost £9.90 for the 4 of us , but it doesnt include drinks , it ended up costing £20
needless to say we didnt go there again
I now have £15 left for this week , but we only need milk, yoghurt and bread ( which i will probably make ) so should be ok

going to pick the kitty up from the cattery this morning , cant wait to see her

have a good day all xx

    Morning all,

really late one from me today, just didn't want to get out of bed! I wasn't tired, just wanted to lay there. We broke our bed last night :o so need to fix that when i get home, also need to clean the whole house, put some clothes in the wash and walk the dog (basically everything i didn't do on the weekend)

We talked last night and we are definately moving next year :D so my £2 a day saving jar is now going towards that for the time being, all my o/t is going towards the move too, will need to ask my dad to be guarentor (sp?)

Sausages for dinners tonight- have hot dog rolls so might do hot dogs with fried onions.
    lunch is fruit salad

OH is thinking about packing working with his uncle, but we'll see, he always says that when he's tried!

    Have a lovely day all

SC - Consider yourself formally reminded :D
Bramble - Glad you've made up, shame about the bed tough :rotfl:
Adelight - I would stock up on flour etc ;)

Ok....So just said the the kids....."right if we tidy up for 1 hour, I'll take you to the library and then onto the park." Cue lots of groans....So off i went into the kitchen, thats been done, DD1 (10) slopped off upstairs, DD2 (5) helped me, DS (2) watched TV (didn't really expect him to help tho). DD1 has just came back downstairs to get her brekkie, They are now all slumped on the sofa. I shall go upstairs and read ;)
