Sometimes over the last few months, @ and " have become transposed. In other words I type " but @ comes up, and vice versa.
Today firefox has suddenly decided that my keyboard is French (it isn't) and so it goes azerty across the top and A is Q etc.
Is this the sign of a virus?
Thank you

if you search the techie forum for "pound sign", you'll probably find the answer.. you need an english keyboard.

Well, if you actually read the screen whilst reinstalling instead of just clicking "next" over and over you wouldn't have this problem!0 -
I think you'll find there is more to it than that. This has been going on for more than 10 years with every successive release of a Microsoft O/S, and setting the locale on the XP installation screen does not resolve all the English KB issues, you have to start digging around the settings on the buttons during the installation to do it properly, not at all intuitive.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0

I've been installing systems for about 8 years now and have never had any problems.0 -
try going to the command prompt, and doing a £. XP is better than most of the Microsoft O/S's during installation, but none of them do it properly and simply, whether you set it to uk or not, XP still leave the US kb setting, unless you delete it manually.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0
