grout colour dilemma grey or cream - kitchen wall tiles!

Getting my kitchen walls tiled on Tues and cant decide on the grout colour. My worktops are like this http://www.diy.com/diy/jsp/bq/nav.jsp?action=detail&fh_secondid=9296324&fh_location=//catal!!!1/en_GB/categories<{9372014}/categories<{9372039}/categories<{9372151}/specificationsProductType=laminate_worktops/specificationsSpecificProductType=worktops and i am getting square tiles in dark grey and light grey which will be mixed up on the wall. I am thinking of going for a grey grout rather than the usual cream as i think cream will spoil the effect of the grey mix. I could really do with someones opinion, I have my poor tiler driven crackers. As i type this i am thinking of just going grey!

Thanks

Well you asked for an opinion.:D Cream won't work visually with grey tiles. You have grey tiles with a dark worktop. You need some contrast in your visual effect. What does your tiler suggest?

  • he said he will try to mock up both colours for me to decide. He said grey, I dont really want them to stand out loads as i think they will look like a checkerboard which i dont want. I really want the effect of the colours of the worktop blending into the tiles and i think the cream will detract from this... They are just going to be splashback and window ledge and my walls are lemon (not really sure if this helps!)
  • What are the tiles - do you have a pic? Will there be any other cream in the kitchen?

I am also thinking white - or a very subtle grey if you must.

Grey grouting is always going to look like dirty white grouting.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.
  • Pale grey! We have some dark blue/turquoise/ coloured mosaic tiles as an edging around our cooker, with deep turquoise tiles in the recess. The tiler said he'd suggest a pale grey grout and I wasn't sure, so he did a mock up with white to show me and it looked really harsh. The pale grey looks much better and 'softer'.

We have dark grey floor tiles & our tiler recommended grey grout & it looks great - not like it's dirty at all. I didn't want the grout to be noticeable so went with his suggestion & I'm glad I did.

Grey, white will end up looking dirty anyway.

Grey looks okay on floors, it'd never stay white - but walls...white.
