Not heard that phrase before - can you explain?

I'm just interested in peoples constructive comments or suggestions. Thanks.

...Commonly known as burying ones head in the sand or putting their hands over their ears and shouting "La la la" whenever someone says something they don't want to hear.
Its up to you. I make enough on Ebay to make me happy and I am charging more than other people are as well.
If you want to have a race to the bottom, you're welcome to carry on. Just don't come back on these forums whining how your business has failed. Not heard that phrase before - can you explain?0 -
Secondly, thanks to RFW, who has the right idea. This potential partner has a large volume business with staff, vehicles, premises all in place and paid for, there will therefore be very little increase in cost to him to add a (relatively) small amount more into his system. I have not discussed the finer details with him, but am guessing their is sufficient spare capacity in his system to allow him to do this at minimal cost.
Does this logistics business of his cover the entire UK or just bits of it?
Your ignorance of logistics beggars belief TBH.If we then looked at selling cheaper to undercut the competition at say £17.50, we would still make £650, or 65%, but would in all likelyhood sell in increased volume due to our price.
Or as many have found out to their amazement, people have avoided them like the plague because they're too cheap. If absolutely everyone else is selling something for £20 or more and you're selling it for £15 many will question why. Some will think you're scammers, some will think you're actually in China despite your profile saying UK, some will think you are selling cheap knock offs.0 -
I'd generally agree, but it depends what level your business is at. If you can undercut your main competitor and stay profitable with a chance of increasing turnover then it's worth looking at.
As for the OP and even subsequent posts it is difficult to comment without knowing the business. It could be that a company sending a million parcels a week by Royal Mail would have little increase in costs if they added another 1000 a week. If those thousand a week were £20 items, then you have a business with a million pound a year turnover and minimal postage costs.
But the way the OP is saying it works, the partner is using their own vehicles for the delivery. They aren't using RM.0 -
Hammyman, once again thanks for your comments!
You may be a regular poster on here, and I'm sure you sometimes have helpful things to say, but, having looked at a cross section of your previous posts, I find your style so hostile, abrasive and confrontational, that I am surprised that your business has not failed TBH. I just guess you don't approach your customers in the same way.

To be fair Olias, even if you disagree with the way it's put across what Hammyman is saying is right. You just don't want to hear/believe/acknowledge it0

I am straight forward and to the point. I don't wrap up people in cotton wool and I don't do " there there, mumsy wumsy will make it all OK" and I tell people how it is which is usually the polar opposite to what they want to hear which some people like you seem not to be able to handle. Why? Because apart from the fact I've never worked in a "rights based organisation" and don't have any time for any of that hand holding nonsense, telling them what they want to hear doesn't do anyone any favours if it is the wrong advice. If you don't like that and just want to listen to what you want to hear, fill your boots - there are plenty of people on here without a clue who will tell you just exactly what you want to hear. Just don't complain when you find out that what you wanted to hear wasn't in your best interests.
My business does well because I listened to people who were experienced in business and listened to the things they told me which didn't go along with what I had planned and as a result, listening to those people saved me a lot of grief and a lot of money. My business also does well because I'll tell my customers the truth about something they bring to me - if its a 6 or 7 year old POS beyond economical repair, I'll tell them that its past it and its time to put it to rest, not that "well yeah, its not a bad machine, a bit slow but I'm sure we can do something" when it is quite obvious to anyone with half a brain it is beyonf hope. My customers recommend me because they know I give a no BS appraisal of a job.
Anyway, as you obviously just want to read what you want to hear, I'll post nothing else on this subject. I wish you luck because I think you're going to get a big wake up call a few months down the line.0 -
I do apologise, I hadn't realised that you were a godlike, infallible font of all knowledge, whose opinion is the only one I should ever listen to. I'll remember that in future;).
Oh, and the fact that you seem to know so much about 'people like you', as you so charmingly put it, and what I can and can't 'handle' and that you seem to have such an in depth knowledge of me that on the basis of a few posts on a forum, you have drawn the conclusion that I 'obviously' just want to read what I want to hear, makes me think that you have one mighty chip on your shoulder.
