Confused!!
Hi all,
We are currently with Npower for gas and electric and just had a letter saying gas is going up another 15%
so I looked on a few sites comparing suppliers and they say that npower sign online 23 is the best tariff saving us £124 per year, we are currently on go save s for the gas with npower. Do they not allow you to change to different tariffs? I have looked on my account online and there is no option to change tariff. Also on another note why do they make the bills so hard to read.... Does this sound about right there are 2 of us living in a mid terrace 2 bed house. we both work during the day, and used 2505kwh of electric and 7291kwh of gas over the last 6 months...
Many thanks for any help

Hi all,

Skipping your first question.
Is the 6 month consumption based on actual meter reading(s) or estimated meter readings?
As numbers, the electricity is quite a bit above average (annual "average" electricity is 3,300 kWhrs). Gas is harder to comment on because use is highly seasonal, but "average" annual gas consumption is 16,500 kWhrs.

Have you tried on Npower.com (rather than on 'my Npower') and going to the 'new to Npower' bit at the top left of the home page? Even though you're not 'new', you can still compare your current Npower tariff & switch online if you find a cheaper one. I'm with them and have changed tariffs this way with them online about 4 times in the last 7 years.
NB Your gas use sounds high, even with the extended winter - is it an older terrace that might be lacking in insulation etc? As a comparison, I've used about half that in a 3 bed (modern) semi with 2 teenage girls constantly showering/wasting energy and a partner who refuses to put jumper on when she's cold LOL!
Edit - presuming Jalexa is correct, your gas use is 'normal', although mine is about 11000 kwh per annum0
