My OH is due to start consultation next Friday and it will end in redundancy. There are less than 20 being made redundant. How quickly can they go from consulation to redundancy being issued ? Could they do it next Friday in the consultation meeting ?

It depends. Is the company going under or is it just downsizing?
Will your OH definately be made redundant or is one of the people that could be?
There is usually an initial consultation to formerly tell you your job is at risk. Then there will be a seconfd consultation to inform you that you are being made redundant.
There is usually then an option to appeal (unless the company has gone under).
The company I worked for had a gap between consultations of between 7 days and 28 days when they recently made redundancies. My OH was made redundant 5 days after his first consultation. It depends on the company.0
