End Sept £3000 and 10 days - where to go?

We want blue seas, a nice pool and 25 degree plus weather. We are a couple in our early 50's, if the budget could get us a half board option fine, however we do have spending money! Not the USA.

White sand would be good, spa facilities and a tennis court a bonus. This board has previously sent us to Aphrodite Hills in the winter which was a huge success...so I have come back for more advice.

Thanks

  • How about the heritage Awali in Mauritius? 5* luxury all inclusive (includes champagne), good trip advisor feedback, and the holiday place have an offer of £1569 for 10 nights. Also a really good time to go to Mauritius, usually dry with it being the end of winter, warm but not too humid.http://www.theholidayplace.co.uk/holiday_itinerary.asp?s=4433

Sri Lanka. You could do a tour, or a beach holiday. Try Jetwing holidays, red dot tours, elephant island tour operators.

Beaches are great, swimming you have to be careful due to strong currents, but hotels have good pools. Weather great, been twice in September minimal rain.

Budget is fine- you could even get all inclusive, although we preferred to explore and eat out. Eating out is cheap, lunch is around £10 for two dinner slightly more. People friendly, loads to see.

Ayurveda is the spa treatment, a 7 day package 4 treatments a day, was very reasonable last year. The treatments included face packs body scrubs, oil massages and was fab!

    Flight is 11 hours.

Have you thought about visiting a travel agent and/or looking at a few brochures and then checking online reviews of accomodation?

No sand - only in Calheta or on the "golden island" - but you might like Madeira http://www.madeira-web.com/PagesUK/weather-uk.html

Or maybe comment on what is worng with the suggestions posted already.

www.wunderground.com is good for checking weather patterns in various years for locations. You can be at end of wet monsoon seasons for a number of tropical locations so check that out maybe

    Thanks everyone

I am looking at the Caribbean however worried about the weather in September.

Mixed feelings about Mauritious due to the experiences of family and others there.

Prefer web information and recommendations and have had a good experience of this site before. Mr Spirit travels a lot (he is away at present) I can share web stuff more easily with him, and no offence meant but I find high street travel agent venues are not open when I am available for browsing and have the ambience of a railway waiting room.

Sri lanka ...sounds novel for us...will investigate.

Any Maldives recommendations or is the weather too unpredictable?
  • Southern India is still in Monsoon at that time, so I presume the Maldives is too. Personally I'd go to Dubai or North Africa/Egypt - though I imagine many people are unduly spooked about North Africa at the moment. I imagine you would get amazing deals on Egypt at the moment and if you do your research you could have a perfectly safe 6 star holiday - and have change from your 3 grand.
