Over 50 staff complaints and many complaints about department manager?

I work in a large supermarket, 1 specific manager has A LOT of complaints from both customers and staff on the way he treats and speaks to people.
Today I had a customer return £80 worth of shopping because the manager was rude to him. Last week I had 3 written complaints by customers for him too (on the same day!!!)
Why does he still work there?! This is soooo unacceptable. Last year he grabbed my wrist, a few months ago an employee broke down in tears on the shop floor because of the way he spoke to him. A woman went to punch him because he was screaming at her.
!!!!!!?! When does this end? If written complaints are made to the personnel manager (which I personally know a lot have been made) why is nothing done? !!!!!!? !!!!!!?

Have you personally complained to someone higher up to bring all the complaints to their attention?Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
If you are a member of staff and you believe that you are being treated unfairly, then the time is to raise a greivance. If there are a number of you feeling the same way, then you can create a group greivance.
Is anyone in a trade union? Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
If you havent brought the issues to someone higher up then how will they know whats going on and try to sort it. Maybe keep a log of what happens. Are the complaints kept on file and seen by anyone else.0

Well I did...I brought it to the personnel manager who is "Senior management" - I did follow the correct procedure for it, informed my union rep too. (Which I know others have also done). If the personnel manager doesn't do anything, what can we do next? The store manager has received many complaints regarding him (from customers) - so I'm not really sure what to do next
He's just scum!! I would NEVER in my life speak or treat ANYONE the way he does *grrr*0 -
raise a complaint about the personnel manager; if he's not dealing with complaints then complain about him to his boss / upper management0

It is a big step, but I agree, this won't stop until someone is prepared to take it all the way.scheming_gypsy wrote: »raise a complaint about the personnel manager; if he's not dealing with complaints then complain about him to his boss / upper managementHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Has anyone also gone to the store manager?
I used to work in a supermarket full of pervy managers and 2 were sacked and 1 was on a warning by the time I left.
One time my friend reported 1 of them to the store manager and he got it sorted quick sharpish. They had a joint meeting with personnel but the store manager took it to them - they cant exactly ignore him.0 -
Hey Kat
Pretty similar situation here... we have complained a loooot of times, last time (some 2 months ago) we raised 30 (!) points on behavior of our line manager, sat over 3 hours with personnel and general manager and result was... schedules sorted out (lasted for 2 weeks
) and... thats it..... 0 -

I don't think you should be critical of your employer on a public forum...Repeated !!!!!!'s and calling a Manager scum could be gross misconduct.0 -
