Inspiron 1300 £298.45 incl VAT and P&P

Hi I'm looking into buy this laptop as the price seems good at £298.45 from Dell including VAT and P&P but it says it only has warrenty for 90 day back to base. I thought it was under garantee for a year.

This is the laptop, is it work to stay with the 90 day warrenty and is this a good laptop for the price. Might do wireless internet on it.

I've never bought from them so any information would be good. I'm looking for a lightweight laptop and don't know how heavy this is.
No reliance should be placed on the above.

youll probably have to fight it out with the india call center but they legaly need to offer you at least 6 months waranty.

that said its a pretty horible laptop, my old company used to sell them about that price a year ago, they are about as cheap as you can get and probably refubished (1).

frankly with a £300 budget i would be tempted to go on ebay and grab a 2nd hand ibm, they are pretty much imortal and feel like real quality. i dont know how price sensative you are but you can by a new laptop with twice the processor speed and a lot more features for about £90 more.

    (1) the ones my company sold were refubs and refurbed pretty badly as well, at least a 10-15% fail rate

I've got two of these, no problems at all with them, 5 colleagues at work have them , no problems either

the unit is under a standard 12 month guarantee, the 90 days is "collect and return" at Dells expense, you have to pay to send it back after that but you get re-imbursed if it's a hardware fault down to them

i would update the battery to a 6 cell for an extra £11 to give a 4 hour charge under normal usage

these are cheap at the moment as in the long term the inspiron 1501 is replacing it

I've had mine for about 11 months now. Apart from having a few screws loose and now getting onscreen messages about the battery failing, it's been OK

I got a dell lappy when they had a sub-£300 offer before. I've had no problems with it. I guess it depends what you want to use it for. If it's just internet, and office stuff it's more than fine.

Mine is not particularly heavy, but there are certainly more lightweight laptops on the market.
