    Bump!
I too saw a great deal on a TV at digitaldirect.co.uk and was wondering if anyone knew what they were like to deal with? Also if there was any problem with the buy now pay later deal ( 10% upfront then rest before the 9mth interest free period is up - 8mths of bank interest on my money rather than pay up front sounds great - but is there a catch?)
    Thanks for any help
    MrsB.

They are based round the corner from me, I have never bought from them but they are the same company as sound and vision in Farnworth who I have bought from (Ive spent way too much money in their shop) they are fine no problem with them.

digitaldirect.co.uk shipping prices are pretty high I feel especially when it is traveling less than half a mile from their warehouse so I refuse to buy from them and they wont allow collections. If you want an idea on the price including delivery check out http://www.soundandvisiononline.com/ as they are the same company just include delivery in their prices.

The usual catch to buy now pay later, is you miss or be late with a payment, or forget about the final payment, and they lump on an extortionate rate of interest from day one. Not worth the risk and hassle imo, for the 5 or 6 quid you might get from sticking the money in a savings account. Applying might also affect your credit scoring.

Typical APR 29.8% - for those customers who do not settle in the deferred period.

And while I am at it, am I the only person in the country who thinks the picture on all LCD and plasma tv's looks crap? I don't understand why people buy them over a CRT. (not that you can get many CRT's in the high street nowadays). They also have crap sound when compared to your average crt.
Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time?

No your not albert, Plasma isnt too bad but LCD picture quality is crap, I believe the technology is about 3 years away from being right. If I can help it I wont buy a new TV untill it is sorted.

You mention it in shops and the reply is your not suposed to watch it from so close move 4 metres away and it looks great. my reply is that at 4m away it also looks the size of the old 21" we had so what is to point of buying a nice big 42" screen when the viewing distance makes it look like a 21". they always agree after that.

I can vouch for digitaldirect. My rents purchased a 42 inch panny from them and it came next day without any problems. It was a decent price as well.

  • Having had only a quick look, the price does seem the lowest around, but not by as much as they might want to think. Nobody is selling it at the £999 they quote.

Once you add the £30 delivery, they work out around £30 cheaper than the next that I could find. There are quite a few out there selling the TV around the £440-£450 mark.

Still, there's still that £30 saving.
Found some reviews here, here and here.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks guys for the help - it was a different Sony tv we were looking at getting, and the price difference between them and elsewhere is really good so I think we will go ahead.

Oh and yes I agree about the CRT thing too - plasma are slightly better than the lcd but as my kids play video games there is the screen burn problem. Oh and I still have a CRT monitor too - OH bought me a new 21" flat screen (as a present) which I hated so our 14 yr old has it now.. lol.

    Thanks, MrsB.
