DFS: any one bought the Supreme reclining Sofa?

I was in DFS today looking at it, and trying to decide.
Most sales tend to be well reduced, but this is only by £100.
They say it doesn't need the 'leather protection' because it is so good that anything that gets put on it, comes off easy.
So just wondering what they are like at aftersales, if you have problems, and the quality in the real world rather than them say "this really is the best".
Hope someone can advise.

Just had a nosy, and it looks lovely. I assume it was very comfy? Wouldn`t mind one myself in a couple of years.
I am no DFS expert, my only experience of DFS was a 2nd hand suite that was pretty knackered when I got it, but £100 does not seem much of a discount. If you are not in a hurry it may be worth waiting and watching the prices to see if gets a better discount in a later promotion.
Have you googled for reviews of DFS? Most of the large stores get a lot of negative feedback online, but of course there may well be thousands of happy customers who don`t bother posting about it.0 -
Hi.
Thanks for the "nosey".
Yes it was amazingly comfy - the most comfy one I have sat on there, or anywhere really.
The particularly well designed part of it is the headrest. Think of where your pillow is on your bed when you lay down: right at your neck and right there for your head.
I'm 6'2", and that's where the head rest is on this. And the pocket sprung seats are nice and bouncy too. Not hard or firm.
Their sale on this particular item is never strong. It's only even £100 or so. Their delivery charge is £39, so even getting that for free wouldn't be much of a benefit to get.
I have googled it, and yes most are negative, but as you say, few forums post great reviews on any company.
You could find 5 really bad ones. But there may be 5000 really good ones out there.0 -
Thanks for the feedback on the comfort of the sofa - I am 5ft tall so I would need a booster seat to benefit from the headrest! Still I would love the corner sofa.....`tis huge though not sure I could fit it in my lounge. Also loved the look of the Memphis curved Sofa.
At the end of the day, if this sofa is the most comfy you have found and the quality seems good, then I would say just bite the bullet and go for it. You can protect yourself to a degree by paying by credit card and even if the price is not as good as you would have liked this is something that you will have in your home to enjoy for many years (hopefully) so well worth the investment. The fact it does not get heavy discounts suggests it is a popular seller too. Can`t help but wonder if the cheaper ones on offer are inferior or they are trying to offload the carp that does not sell well.
ETA - being a taller than average person you have been lucky to find something that is comfy for you. I am at the opposite end of the scale and always feel like Alice in Wonderland after drinking the shrinking potion as my legs dangle off the end of sofas and my feet are in mid air. Eventually this causes me pain in the small of my back. Years ago I had a lovely little compact leather suite from Allied carpets which was the only sofa I have ever sat on the my feet actually touched the floor properly. Have tried but failed to find anything as small and neat.
Go on buy it, you know you want to...0 -
My mum is about 5ft tall and she said it was incredible.
They do have the 0% apr and 4 years, tho I would pay it off earlier, but what makes buying it on Credit Card, safer?
I'm the World's worst at spending big money on things. I think about things a great deal, look around a lot, read reviews etc. I procrastinate too much, but it's only cause I am extra cautious.
I wanted one that was 185cm long, mostly so I can lay out on it. But the 2 seater is shorter but the recliner does go almost flat, and you can lay on your side on the reclined position and you have great comfort.
I've heard some people say the salesman are like Car Supermarket people - true, they are. But then I think ALL the sofa stores are like that.
And how do you define those that are, and those that are not?0 -
A credit card purchase of over £100 is covered by Section 75 Of the Comsumer Credit act. A bit more info below, but basically they are as equally liable as the DFs if anything goes badly wrong......most of all in these uncertain times if DFS went bust you would not lose your money. You can still take their 0% credit but just make sure you pay at least £100 deposit on your credit card so that you are covered. There have been a few furniture stores that have bitten the dust over the years leaving customers high and dry.

Hope that helps explain a bit.
ETA re salesmen. I have found they either tend to patronise you and sarcastically make out you don`t know a thing or else pretend to be your special best friend and `advise` you what to buy. I prefer to do my own research and browse around and just want the salesman when i know what I want and just want the order processed.
Oh and watch out for being pressured to have extra protection cover. They may try to sneak it into your credit agreement so check before you sign.0
