Is a tin of varnish ok if it's a few years old?

I have a tin of varnish I opened and used a little bit of a few years ago, since then it's been sitting on top of the fridge
waiting for me to find the motivation to do the rest of the shelves with it!
I don't remember it being opaque in colour but it is now - does anyone know if it would be ok to use or should I ditch it and get some more?

Opaque varnish normally indicates that it is water based, not acrylic based. Providing it hasn't been exposed to frost, it should be OK.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

Hi,
yes opaque should be ok, give a stir up and try it on a bit of spare wood, sure it'll be fine.0 -
