  • I have been trying to decide between TomTom 25 and the Garmin NUVi 1440

Both seem very similar but I have heared that TomToms seem to cut it in terms of usablility and other ways

Quality of instructions are important to me so I think a 5 inch screen will be beneficial.

There was some uncertainlty as to whether I can enter coordinates but there is a chance I can create my own POI files with this one but im not sure how good this will be, it would be good to be able to create a POI of the Car Park at the approach to a mountain id like to walk up.
  • im in the same boat, was going to buy one today from mynewgps website but im thinking also about the via 125 live

  • Ive got the Tom Tom today and I'm pleased with it.

It takes a while to understand what route choice (fastest, shortest, eco) you should make though.
  • Before my TomTom was nicked from my car I used the quickest route not the shortest. I think this is where people found themselves in streams and footpaths!!!

My Garmin has the option to avoid unpaved roads. I have found it useful when I'm not in a 4x4 or I'm in a hurry.
