Hi all, I am after a gaming PC. Dont really want to spend much more than £700. I like playing both online games and normal PC games. I want something powerful that can last and be upgraded.
I have seen this one > http://www.ukgamingcomputers.co.uk/tornado-gaming-dektop-pc-p-130.html
Looks good but need to pay extra for operating system and monitor etc.
Thanks all.

Build your own. That way not only will you get more for your money and what you want but you will learn two things:
1) How easy it actually is to build a computer
2) How to upgrade parts in the future.
Tomshardware.com is an excellent site for review of gaming performance for PCs and regularly puts together gaming machines in a low, medium and stupidly ridiculous price bracket, tests them and gives a recommended list of what to buy.0 -
Thanks! I have considered building my own and have done a budget one in the past however I know very little about specs for a gaming/high performace PC. I will have a look on the site you suggest though.0

Where can I get components from? Last time I got most from ebuyer? I am just so outdated nowadays with whats hot and whats not. I thought the Phenoms were meant to be good?0

Go for one of the new Intel i5's - there's not much reason to go for AMD processors over Intel. Graphics cards are another matter, though.
The best sites for components are Overclockers.co.uk and Amazon.0 -
My husband is selling his gaming PC for £400 including monitor etc.
Spec : AMD Phenom Black Quad Core Processor, 8gb DDR2 RAM, 2GB Nvidia 9500GT Graphics Cards (2 x 1GB cards running in SLI) 900GB Sata Hard Drive (1 x 500GB and 1 x 400GB) , Including Keyboard, Mouse and 17 " LCD Monitor
If you wanted, I can get him to email you more about this, with pics etc?
He used to use it for online and offline gaming loads, but is selling it now because we have a little on one the way, and it's not going to be used as much as it used to be.0 -
Thanks all, PM sent Mabelpye.
I must say I tried to price components the same or similar to the one I linked above and am struggling to get it much cheaper? Are there purchasing guides to this sort of thing?
Also, how is intel better than AMD and why the i5 the one to go for? is i7 not better?
Thanks again.0 -

The current generation Intel processors are much better than the current generation AMD equivalents. AMD are cheaper but lag about a year behind, and you don't save a whole lot of money.
The i7 is definitely better though, but if you're just gaming the i5 is going to be plenty. Games rely more on the GPU, so there's no sense going for a super-fast processor that's not going be used by the game - you're better off investing the money in a better monitor or pair of speakers (you'll actually notice the difference).
It's worth remembering that assuming you're looking at a 1080p/HD monitor, you're not going to need a ridiculous graphics card and processor. Games are made to run on 2006-era consoles, after all. Most cards from the ATI 6x series and an i5 would run most games with ease.0 -
Thanks, is the i3 also superior? I have seen some good deals with the i3. The whole graphics card saga confuses me greatly!0
