BT Line saver-tips and hints

Hi
I ve moved house and was advised that I will need to pay the connection charge of 130£.
I have spoken with a BT agent again and was advise about the Line saver . Basically I still have to pay the connection charge 130£ plus the 120£ line saver. This is on a 12month contract.
This is quite a lot of money in one go. However I ll be working abroad for 3month. I 've also tempted to take another offer where it s only 30£connection fee , but it s 18 monts contract and 13.90line rental.
Anyway I would like to know people who have bt line saver can you give me any hints so that I only really pay 10£per month and not any any additional or hidden charges:)
Thanks

Those who opt for LRS have to make at least 2 calls (chargeable or inclusive) per month or they get a 'low use' £1.50 charge. If you're going to be away, you won't be able to meet that requirement.

IIRC, the £30/18 month offer requires TEN calls/month.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

    Hi
The other offer with 30£ connection fee is not only on a longer contract(18 months) but also if you don t make the required 10calls per month , there is a penlaty of 5.50£/month.
I m mostly getting the line to keep my braodband with o2.
hmm, I think that I 'll probably pay the fee on my creditcard (o% interest) and have to pay the charge 1.50£ for the months that I m abroad.
Thanks for your 6stps plan for reducing call cost.

Pity you can't leave this till you come back from your trip abroad though as you've just moved into your new house I suppose this is inconvenient.

Remember that the inclusive calls are 7pm – 7am for 1hr Monday – Friday, all day Saturday and Sunday, unless it's the Unlimited Weekend Plan you have which is just all day Saturday and Sunday, I opted for the Unlimited Evening and Weekend Plan. I nearly made the mistake of calling after 6pm a few days ago as well, just checked my latest bill and it appears OK, good job I made a call later than 6pm though, it was actually about 10ish when I made the call.

Decided to go for LRS in the end after thinking I'd be better off keeping the CPS from Primus (BT T's&C's says CPS isn't allowed with LRS, they had this cancelled). Decided it wouldn't really make that much difference in the end as I don't really make that many calls in the evening anyway, plus BT's evening calls are free anyway.
