thomson baggage weight question etc

I have a question i am going to greece in a few days time and flying with thomsons,i paid for the extra luggage weight so on my ticket it says 25kg,on the booklet i got from first choice who i booked it with it says on there please bear in mind no single item of luggage can top 23kg and anything over must be packed in a separate bag.
Whats that about why have i paid or upgraded to 25kg for my hold luggage but then it says you cant go over 23kg,im not sure if my case will top the 23kg limit but i have paid extra to allow me to get 25kg please advise

Also i have one more question i have just noticed it says on my first choice booklet which has the tickets inside etc if your on premier,premier families active, a la carte platinum,sensation etc etc your hand luggage is boosted to 7kg would this be me as on the front of my book it says premier,i am taking i am premier?

Hi, I can not really comment on the premier issue as unless you actually booked premier ( not what it says on the booklet) then I would think that you are standard, but please don't quote me. :-)

With the luggage, basically you can take your 25kilos but will need to be separated into 2 suitcases so one can have say 12 kilos and the other 13 kilos, you just can't have over 23 in one case.

Well i called them but guy was a little confused as to the questions i asked etc so thought i ask on here as well,what is the normal weight for thomsons flights,we are booked with first choice i thought it might have been 25kg hold luggage and 5 kg for hand luggage i did not think hand luggage was checked or was something they included.
But they tried to say to me that the normal luggage weight is 15kg and i upgraded to 20kg adding 5kg,i then have my hand luggage allowance of 5kg so in total there saying to me i am allowed 25kg this will be my hand luggage and hold luggage combined is this right?
I thought when i upgraded an extra 5kg that it was already 20kg you was allowed is this not right??

As far as I know, 23kilos is the maximum one piece of luggage can weigh, this is a health and safety requirement and has nothing to do with the airline or tour opperator, you can have as much total weight as want (within reason) as long as it's spread over a number of bags and as long as you are willing to pay the excess baggage charges. The normal hold luggage allowances for most comapnies are 15kg up gradeable to 20kg, First Choice used to give 20kg on some routes, not sure if this is still the case after merging with Thompson on top of this you are allowed up to 5kg to in the cabin.

Ok, the standard is 15 kilos for hold and 5 for hand hand, then you paid extra to have an extra 5 kilos for hold luggage that brings it to a maximum for you of 20kilos hold luggage, this you can put all in one case as it is below the 23 kilo threshold. The hand luggage is separate and you either use it as hand luggage or not, but you can't add the 5 kilo hand luggage to your hold luggage or they will charge you. So 20kilos in your hold suitcase is fine and if you have any more then it will have to go as hand luggage as long as it's not over 5kilos.

I'm not sure that's true since with many airlines, travelling in premium classes, you can have a bag weighing up to 32kg...and on many airlines when travelling in economy you can have a bag weighing up to 32kg if you pay the fee for overweight baggage.

When I went Kenya myself and kids were allowed 40kilos each!! However they had to be split between cases with no case weighing more than 23 kilos (give or take ) many airlines will allow 20, 30 or even up to 60 kilos but just needs to be separated into smaller amounts for the baggage handlers needing to be able to carry/load.

But yes you can pay for the overweight baggage excess too, but wouldn't recommend as it costs a fortune

I agree - but I still don't think the max is 23kg per bag for H&S reasons as has been suggested - since some airlines allow up to 32kg per bag for passengers in certain circumstances.
