Cigarette lighter not working in Corsa

Hi there, pretty clueless with cars but thought I'd ask before I get ripped off at a garage. I have a Y reg Corsa, and last night when putting my pennies into the ashtray I dropped one into the cigarette lighter socket, and now it wont work. I've tried a few things (mp3 radio jack, the actual lighter, satnav) and nothing works. Is it just a fuse or have I done anything serious? Need it to be working by next weekend to drive to the airport!

    Probably the fuse has blown.

Even if you can't get it fixed, your car will still be safe/roadworthy for your journey to the airport.
  • Boubtless just a fuse, the handbook will tell you where the fuse box is located (probably on the side panel under the footwell ) and which fuse it is. But you need to sort it because that circuit probably feeds other things .

  • Speedo's working fine. Need it for my satnav to get to the airport!
  • Have a look in your manual.

Towards the back will be the fuse layouts. Note which fuse operates assessory lighter

Find the fusebox - In Corse I think it's under steering wheel.

Find correct fuse, schematic will be in manual.

Check - If it's blown, replace with one of the spares.

If you've no spares, you can buy them for pennies.

Fuse number 26 (10A and coloured red) is responsible for the ciggy lighter (and a couple of other devices), fusebox is under the bonnet on the passenger side of the car just in front of the suspension strut.

Don't forget to remove the penny before you replace the fuse!
