Accident and Sickness Insurance

Hi I wonder if anyone help with this, back in around 2000 I took out accident and sickness Insurance, I had a limited company. I had an accident at work in 2002 and tried to claim but it was refused on the grounds that it was an existing injury, I had previously slipped a disc in my lower back that was my existing injury, this injury was a slipped disc in my neck. I asked how they see it as an existing injury and was told because my neck is attached to my back, I stated well so are my arms and legs so does that mean I cant claim for them, they said well probably not, so I cancelled the policy as I saw it I was paying for nothing and it was a rip off, 2 months later I had a major accident, fell 33 feet caused by a faulty fork lift, the damage was brain damage which I will always suffer with, a smashed left arm to which I have limited use and blinded in my left eye and other back injuries. I tried to sue the forklift company owner and we did not have a case as the forklift and driver disappeared, Apparently no evidence no case, and was told could not claim against my own company liability insurance, have not been able to work since, the company was made bankrupt and so was I, due to the mis sold insurance I lost everything, can anyone help please.
