Quote for day rate for labourer

Hiya
Got lots of small jobs that need doing round the house such as
new loo sit fitted (ive tried and cant get the old one off no matter what i do)
curtain rails fitted
loft hatch opening made bigger and ladders installed
loft area tidied - boarded out basically
small area of re-pointing at back of house
hand rail installed
the builder has quoted me a day rate of £120 for 1 guy or £180 a day if there are 2 on site plus the cost of any materials (which he already offered to give me the receipts without me asking)
he is also going to block pave my entire drive and turn it from a 1 car drive into a 3 car drive for me, again paying same day rate and the cost of the materials.
is this is an ok price to pay? He doesnt expect the work to take more than 3 - 4 days as the loft is already part boarded out, with the majority of the time being taken up on the drive.

I would say for the first set of jobs these can all be done by one person.
But if this includes the driveway too, then i would go with the labourer also. As they could be doing a job each thus giving them time to concentrate on the driveway.
You could try and get him to commit to 3 days only with the labourer, that way you will know exactly what you will be paying.0 -
My local (semi retired) builder charges £120 a day and, considering the amount of work he gets through in a day, I have always thought it more than fair.0

60 pound more and he is paying somone else as well, this is "cash job then", no way you can be employing someone and it only costing £60 a day0

the builder has said its up to me how i want to pay, be it cash, cheque or bank xfer direct to his buisiness bank. he did say i was getting a discount by having the work done in october as thats his quieter time so as long as the day rates not that extortionate im happy to pay it.
thanks for the help :beer:0 -
But why have a day rate? Day rates tend to ebcourage buiulders to drag a job out. You would be better off on a fixed price, then there is an incentive for the builder to work quicker plus you have certainty over costs.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

Might not be much help this but we have had our loft hatch made bigger and a good ladder a pull down type fitted recently, one workman half a days work all ladder/equipment and that was £375 all in whicyh we thought was a fair price as very good quality ladder/hatch/workmanship.
Mind you still waiting for a quote to board the loft - he must be away all of August!Sealed Pot Challenge number 8 Amount declared £365.50.
