Parking ticket because of blocked CPZ sign

Options
Hello

I've been given a parking ticket for parking on a single yellow line in a controlled zone outside prescribed hours. I appealed on the basis that I did not see the sign. My appeal was rejected. I then took photographs of the signs and in the photos the Controlled Zone sign is blocked by a ''To Let'' sign on the left hand side of the road. The sign becomes visible only from very close up i.e. by almost standing under the ''To Let'' sign. The sign on the right side is visible. I did not know to look for the signs and was concentrating on my side of the road. A ''To Let'' sign is of no interest to me. Also the bay I parked in had white bay markings as well as a single yellow (badly worn away) line.
Can I still contest the parking ticket on the grounds that I did not see the CPZ sign and AS A RESULT any other parking restriction signs for the bay?
Many thanks.
