NCB from different vehicles during same year
Comments

Back in the day (approx 10 years ago ) I was the manager of a brokerage and managed to get an underwriter to do just this.
Not so sure in this day and age of go-compare that there is now the flexability in the underwriting process to do it.
You can but ask?0 -
The point is , that you would earn 2 seperate NCD's on 2 seperate vehicles.
At renewal you would receive 2 renewal/proof of NCD letters showing 1 years NCD on each.
When your new insurer asks for proof of NCD you send in the proof relating to the vehicle you are going to insure, giving you 1 years NCD.
It usually asks ' was this NCD built up on the vehicle you are insuring' , so you cannot send in two seperate NCD's relating to two seperate vehicles for just one car. ( Well , you can send them in but they will just ignore one of them !!! ).
For God's sake don't ring up insurers and make a fool of yourself .............on second thoughts go ahead and post back afterwards.0 -
Why do you deserve that over a person driving one car 20-30k miles that year? You can only drive one car at a time, you have ONE year's driving without claiming.[Deleted User] wrote:What I am saying is if you have 2/3 cars you drive on a regular basis, 10-15k miles per year in each. Then you should be rewarded with 2 years worth of NCBs for use the following year.0 -

So do you have issues with people who drive limited miles a year say, 2k... Because they have vault reduced the risk of an incident compared to someone who's drove 30k? Are you saying they don't deserve a years ncb?
Fact is if yr paying for 2 policies and do not claim on them, you should be rewarded.0 -
Personally I have some sympathy with the OP, but not in the way they have described, since I have always been of the opinion that it is the policy holder that pays the premium and would make a claim on the policy, so if the policy holder has not made a claim then the "Person" should get the NCD (NOT THE CAR)
Therefore, if the "Person" has two cars, both insured on different policies (possibly with different companies) then that "Person" has earned x years NCD for not making any claims (on any of their policies).
Conversly, if that "Person" has made a claim on any policy, then they would reasonably expect their NCD to be reduced on both policies - swings and roundabouts.
But, as we know, the motor insurance industry do not work like the above, so it's all mute.
Anyway, ever since the option to protect your NCD was introduced, the NCD has become a bit of a misnomer since you can claim and retain the discount, (hence it's no longer a "No Claims" discount).
And, everyone knows that if you make a claim, your premium is going to increase irrespective of retaining the same level of NCD because the "basic" premium will rise to cover the perceived increase in risk after the claim.

No, no issue because they're likely to carry on doing 2k miles the following year. You could argue if someone went from 2k to 30k miles the NCD shouldn't count as much but it'd be so rare, and a nightmare to administer, it wouldn't be cost-effective.[Deleted User] wrote:So do you have issues with people who drive limited miles a year say, 2k... It's not a fact, it's your opinion. You are rewarded, you can carry on with two policies, each with 1 years NCD. Time isn't additive![Deleted User] wrote:Fact is if yr paying for 2 policies and do not claim on them, you should be rewarded.0
