  • We've all done things like this.

    Try not to get defensive and grovel, grovel, grovel. Write a letter and try to pull at the heartstrings, and don't admit that it was your fault. Tell them you've used their hotels for years and never had any problems, they are brilliant etc etc, staff have always been helpful.

    You could also try, if you've got the original e-mails with the details of the booked rooms, just turning up and hoping the rooms are available.

    I don't think adding your own T&C's will help you in the future, apart from getting the hotel staff to dislike you before you even arrive. I book cheap hotel rooms all the time and rarely complain - taking all the overheads into account you can't really beat Travelodges. I personally prefer Premier Inns, but they are a little more expensive.

    Good luck, hope you manage to get it sorted.

    Premier Inns are used as remand centres for young offenders, best avoided.

    Update;

    Received a call this lunch time from a nice chap called Mark at Travelodge head office customer service. He confirmed receipt of my e-mail to the CEO and stated that as a goodwill gesture they have re-instated my cancelled booking for the Thursday.

    He then sent an e-mail to confirm it was re-instated.

    I couldn't have asked for a better, prompter, understanding or more courteous reply than I received.

    In huge contrast to the 'help' I received on the standard number.

    Thanks to all the posters, but especially Susancs who provided the contact details and advice. Hopefully I can return it one day.
